Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work exactly?
We fly your property on a scheduled basis — monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly depending on your plan. After every flight we process the imagery, analyze what we captured, and deliver a complete intelligence report to your personal dashboard within 24 hours. You log in from your phone or computer and your entire property is there — cattle counts, fence conditions, water levels, pasture health, and any security activity detected during the flight.
Do I need to be there when you fly?
No. Once your property is set up in our system we handle everything. We coordinate access with you in advance and execute the mission on your scheduled flight date. You don't need to be present — that's the whole point.
How long does it take to get my report after the flight?
Your report will be live on your dashboard within 24 hours of your flight. If anything delays that timeline we will communicate with you directly before the deadline.
What happens if weather cancels a flight?
South Texas weather happens. If conditions prevent a safe flight we reschedule at no extra charge. Your subscription is never billed for a flight that didn't happen.
How do you count my cattle from the air?
We fly a high-resolution mapping mission over your property and capture detailed overhead imagery of every pasture. Our team reviews the processed map and counts cattle by pasture zone. Results are broken down by area so you know not just your total head count but exactly where your cattle are distributed across the property.
Can you fly at night?
Our thermal security flights operate at dawn — typically between 5:30 and 9:00 AM — when ground temperatures are coolest and heat signatures from animals, vehicles, and people contrast most clearly. This is actually the most effective time to detect feral hog activity since hogs are most active at dawn. Full RGB mapping missions are conducted in daylight for maximum image quality.
How accurate are the GPS coordinates on fence alerts?
Every breach, water source, and security event we flag is pinned with GPS coordinates accurate enough to navigate directly to the location. Your crew drives to the exact spot without searching.
What kind of drone do you use?
We operate a professional enterprise-grade aircraft used by commercial operators worldwide. It carries three integrated cameras: a wide RGB camera for mapping, a zoom camera for detailed inspection, and a thermal camera for dawn security flights. It is rated for dust and water resistance and built for the demands of South Texas field operations.
Can the drone see everything on my property?
Yes. Every flight is a fully autonomous mission programmed to cover your entire property boundary at consistent altitude and overlap. Nothing is left out. The drone follows the same precise flight path every visit so every acre is captured the same way every time.
What is thermal imaging and why does it matter?
Thermal cameras detect heat rather than visible light. At dawn when the ground is cool any warm object — a person, a vehicle, a feral hog — stands out clearly against the background. This allows us to detect activity on your property that a standard camera would completely miss. For South Texas ranchers dealing with feral hog pressure and trespass concerns thermal imaging is one of the most valuable tools we carry.
Is my property data private and secure?
Your data is stored securely and never shared with third parties. Altavex retains ownership of the imagery and data collected during flights. Your dashboard is accessible only to you through a secure login. All data collected for your property is stored in our system in perpetuity for as long as Altavex is in operation — meaning your historical flight data is always available for comparison and reference.
How do I access my dashboard?
Your dashboard is accessible from any web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. No special software required. We set up your account during onboarding and walk you through the interface before your first flight.
Do I need to download an app?
No app download required. Your dashboard is fully web-based and optimized for mobile so it works cleanly on any smartphone browser. We do offer an app, however, if you are interested.
How much does it cost?
Plans start at $199 per month for a monthly flight on properties under 250 acres. Pricing varies by flight frequency and property size. Visit our pricing page for a full breakdown or call us directly and we will give you an exact number for your property.
Are there contracts?
All clients sign a service agreement before their first flight. This covers property access, liability, scheduling, and data terms. The agreement is month to month — there is no minimum commitment and you can cancel anytime with no penalty.
What if I want to cancel?
Cancel anytime. No penalties, no questions, no runaround. Just let us know before your next billing cycle.
Do you charge extra for large properties?
Yes — pricing scales with acreage because larger properties require more flight time, more batteries, and more processing. Our pricing page shows the exact rates by acreage band. Properties over 5,000 acres are custom quoted — call us and we will build a number that works for your operation.
What is included in the first free flight?
Your first flight is completely free for properties up to 250 acres. You receive the full service — complete aerial mapping, all five data pillars analyzed, and a finished intelligence report delivered to your dashboard. All imagery and data is stored in our system permanently. No obligation to continue. We want you to see exactly what Altavex delivers before you spend a dollar.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Jared holds an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate — the federal certification required for all commercial drone operations in the United States. Altavex Industries carries full commercial liability insurance. Certificates of insurance are available upon request.
Do you need permission to fly over my property?
Yes — and we never fly a property without it. Every client signs a service agreement that grants us permission to conduct flights over their land. We also comply with all FAA airspace requirements and obtain any necessary authorizations before every flight.
What happens if the drone crashes on my land?
We carry commercial liability insurance that covers damage caused during operations. In the unlikely event of an incident we handle it professionally and transparently.
How long have you been doing this?
Altavex Industries is a young and growing company. Jared brings 14 years of engineering and aerospace experience to the operation and Hiba brings over 4 years in data science and AI. We are actively building our flight hours and operational experience as we grow. What we offer from day one is precision equipment, professional certifications, deep technical expertise, and a genuine commitment to delivering value to every client we serve. Our first flight offer exists specifically so you can evaluate the results yourself before making any commitment.
Do you serve my area?
We currently serve the Rio Grande Valley and surrounding areas within approximately two hours. If you are unsure whether your property falls within our service area call us and we will let you know immediately.
